High Street Pieces That Look Like High End

high street fashion blogs uk

Today I’d like to give you a little guide on how to look like you are wearing high-end clothes when in reality you can only afford clothes from high street shops! Don’t get me wrong, I love high-street affordable clothes. As a fashion blogger, I love creating fresh trendy outfits and sharing them with you on my blog as well as wearing new outfits to the events. I’m so meticulous with my style, that I can’t go to different events in the same outfit. But how to afford to have different looks for different occasions and look like you are wearing expensive clothes?

Trend Spotting

When it comes to fashion, the insiders of the industry often aware of the trends at least half a year before the trend hits the stores. Be smart, watch fashion shows online on Youtube or connect to live catwalk shows if you are not able to get to the Fashion Week. This way you will be able to analyse trends and get ready for the upcoming season in advance and without panic. When you have some time to prepare, it’s easy to make clothes alterations, add details to what you already have in your wardrobe. What do you think is cheaper: Moschino leather jacket with badges and applications or faux leather jacket bought from Zara decorated with some cool badges bought on Ebay?

Statement Shoes

I’ve always found it very easy to find an expensive looking pair of shoes at high-street shops. For some reason, in UK affordable brands really make good shoes. (it’s great!) And the prices are fantastic! Moreover, it’s easy to find comfortable shoes, even with heels. Almost entire shoe collection of mine was bought at the price of £5-40. You will be surprised what hidden gems you can get on sales. Go for simple models or the models of shoes that you would like to wear for a couple of seasons. The silver shoes I’m wearing are from Zara, I bought them for about £25-30 and absolutely love this pair. They look like Gucci leather crossover sandals, at least they were inspired by this stunning design. Browse, browse, browse is my motto!

Iconic Handbag

I’m not going to lie. In my opinion handbag is the only part of the outfit you should really invest in. It’s quite complicated to find an affordable bag that will keep the shape and look expensive. I don’t own many bags. I only buy them when I have a spare budget and the time is right. Some of my handbags are bought from pre-owned clothes shops. If you still can’t afford anything near to a high end, I would suggest going for a tote bag. I find tote bags look very sophisticated and elegant. Choose bags made of thicker materials, because they keep the shape better. Which is always great!

These are my top 3 style tips for looking like you are wearing expensive clothes when in fact no! Of course, you should still look for bargains, shop on sales, go to second hand and charity shops, consider buying cotton-like fabrics as they look the best at high street shops, keep your clothes clean. But I wanted to share my personal fashion tips that you might not have heard about before. I hope you have found this little article useful! Let me know in the comments below.

I think the key to looking expensive is to make sure that the clothes really suit you and fit you well. Opting for nicer fabrics and investing in pieces instead of just buying them because they’re on sale or on trend.

Wonderful tips! I used to always scour second-hand stores and consignment shops for my one of a kind pieces and then I’d mix them in with vintage finds and less expensive choices. I think I got lucky growing up in NYC, because when I was little my mom and I used to go thrifting for brands like Chanel (which we found!) and would then resell on eBay.

It’s a lot harder now to find amazing deals for some reason or other, but I still actively make sure to look for solid construction, good fabric, and cuts that will be flattering in a variety of situations. I mix in one or two high-end pieces with less expensive (trendier) items and I’m good to go!

I think one of the best tip to wear anything is having confidence and the right attitude for it. And I also agree with Monika, the right fit also plays a huge factor.

Fantastic post! I think if pieces fit well, you don’t try too hard or wear to many trends at once, it can ook high end. One high end item helps too

Great outfit and tips. Having an expensive handbag def. helps. I think my biggest tip is to get clothes that fit you really well. Clothes that look that they were tailored for you.

Nice outfit. Those pants are amazing. I doubt I could pull them off but they fit you nicely and look awesome on you ? I don’t think I have a particular way to make my clothes look high end….most of the time I just wear what I like whether it looks expensive or not lol
