Hey guys, exiting times, today I have something very special for you – a sneak peek of Topshop Spring Summer 2016 collections! Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the Arcadia Group Spring Summer 2016 press day. And you know me, I always take my camera with me – I want to share all the best and exciting fashion news and events with you! Arcadia Group presented Spring Summer 2016 collections for Topshop, Wallis, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins etc, but today I’d like to show you my photos of Topshop collections, because they are my favourite. Lets start!
Back in the Daze
As urdan sportswear continues to remain in the spotlight, this ’90s era-defining street story takes us back in the daze. Vintage zip-thru colour-blocked track-jackets are worn with pleated tennis-style skirts, or paired with side stripe track-bottoms. Sweatshirts and hoodies layer up over cropped tops, and high-waisted jeans are accessorised with chain belt detailing. Cut-out body-con dressing provides a sexier rib jerseys and worn with trainers to add a grungy attitude.
The modern Puritan finds her cues from romantic prairie dressing but takes the past into the present using new crepe and silk fabrications to replace traditional cottons. Lace cut-works, ruffles, pintucks, and yoke details feature on prairie shirts and shirt-dresses whilst pinafore and apron dressing influence shifts in midi-maxi shirt lengths. Paper bag waist trousers are worn cropped and rolled and the boys=friend check jacket adds an androgynous feel.
Fashion takes on art in this playful collision of inspiration, from the works of modernist artist Sonia Delaunay, through to the collaged palette is used in new, blocked and twisted stripe layouts which sit alongside graphic florals, polka dots, hearts and playful conversational motifs. Blouses with contrast collars, tie-necks, and ruffles are paired with skirt suits, or bright-blue cropped girlfriend jeans.
A renewed interest in the ’80s sees familiar shapes, re-told with dramatic effect. Volume is dialled up on relaxed trouser shapes and asymmetric tuck-and-wrap blouses, whilst hi-cut “Fame” inspired bodies are paired with the high-waisted, ballon leg mom jean. Tailoring is characteristic of the decade, including above the knee pencil skirts and dress-down double-breasted jackets. Sharp colour-block sweats layer under oversize denim western or bomber jackets to add a youthful twist to this smart collection.
Overall I really loved the collections. I also must say that the finishing and the materials used seem to get better and higher quality. I’m very much in love with the Artist’s Impression and fur shoes, let me know in the comments what are your favourite pieces from Topshop Spring Summer 2016 collections?
