How to Achieve a Flawless Natural Makeup Look?

Today I will be sharing my ultimate guide on how to do an everyday natural makeup look. Natural and soft makeup is something that I prefer to wear on a daily basis, especially when I am in a hurry. Most of the times, I don’t have time to create a full on makeup. Moreover, I believe that lightweight sophisticated makeup look is the best option for work, business meetings or just running errands. It helps to make your skin look fresh. Also, it  is able to support the professional appearance of a young business lady. Sometimes, it might be challenging to create a makeup look that would last during the active day. After many years of trying, I finally come up with a magical step-by-step everyday makeup look formula that works every time!

The Basics for Everyday Makeup Look

You might be surprised, but the key to achieving a flawless natural makeup look is a good skin care routine. Beautiful skin is something most people crave. Magazines and advertisements bombard us with photos of women with flawless, healthy skin. While it may sometimes seem impossible, there are everyday steps you can take to achieve that look. Knowing how to prepare your skin before makeup is one of the best things you can do to first repair it and then let it shine. Since it is quite a wide topic itself, I will be preparing an exclusive blog post on how to prepare your skin for the makeup a bit later for you.

The second big factor for the flawless everyday makeup is, obviously, a choice of the beauty products. Think soft, lightweight and moisturising. What do I mean by saying this? First of all, you need to make sure that the cosmetics you are going to use have soft colours and textures. Neutral colours look more sophisticated and elegant. They are easier to apply, which is handy for when creating a 5-minute makeup for work. Secondly, prioritise makeup products with lightweight formulas. Choose cosmetics that blend easily and don’t create a very heavy layer of makeup on your lovely face. And finally, look out for moisturising products or makeup products with benefits for your skin. Fortunately, nowadays beauty brands think a lot about supporting the skin. So make a bit of the research and find the perfect products for your skin type.

Prepare Your Skin For Makeup

After you finished your skin care routine, apply a makeup primer. A flawless face is a basis for every great makeup look, and while a great skincare regimen, foundation and concealer work wonders, makeup artists have another trick up their sleeves for stunning skin: a primer. Primer preps your skin for the perfect foundation application by filling in fine lines and smoothing pores, and it also keeps your makeup looking fresh all day. Consider it the key to making your skin makeup-ready.

I recommend using two primers on a daily basis – one for the complexion and another one for the under eye area. Choose primers that are beneficial for your skin type.

Take care of the under eye area

First of all, prime the under-eye area. Use a hydrating eye cream, if your skin is dry. Instead, I use Puff Off – instant eye gel to help smooth the look of puffy eyes. This gel-like under eye primer has a pink undertone which helps to reduce an appearance of dark circles. Once applied it looks like a moisturiser and gradually dries to a powder-like texture. I’ve noticed that this product leaves you with a brighter looking eye due to its light pink undertones left when dried. The custom ironing tip instantly helps your eyes to “wake up”, because it is made of metal and always stay cold.

Use Face Primer

Secondly, apply a face primer of your preference. Good makeup primer will help to protect your skin during the day whilst creating an even base for the foundation. Use hydrating or illuminated face primer for dry skin. Use pore minimising face primer, if your skin is oily. There are also primer to protect your skin, I choose them. My current favourite makeup primer is Flawless Start by Elizabeth Arden. Creating the perfect canvas to enhance the look and wear of your makeup, Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer smooths uneven texture and diminishes the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, while imparting skin with a moisturised and radiant glow.

I chose this primer because Elizabeth Arden is known for a great skin care products. I believe, they do research and use the newest technology when designing the products. So I know that I can trust them. But, of course, you need to find a primer that will work the best for your skin type

Apply Foundation With Sponge

Foundation can be applied in various ways – with your fingers, makeup brush or a sponge. Whatever method you choose, you need to know how to use it well for a flawless, natural and beautiful finish. I recommend using a beauty blender or a makeup sponge to achieve a natural-looking skin finish. A great trick for a perfect finish is to wet the sponge with a little bit of water and then wring it out well. This allows the base to be evenly distributed and stops it from accumulating in the driest areas so the end result is more natural and beautiful. Try not to wet it too much as it may leave unsightly marks on your face. Makeup sponge will help you to apply the foundation very quickly, which is helpful for a 5-minute makeup for work kind of day!

Beauty tip: In winter, you may feel that your skin needs extra hydration. In this case, mix some of your moisturiser with the foundation and apply it to your face. Give it a little bit of time to get absorbed by the skin and set.

Go for Moisturising Foundation

Let’s talk about foundation. There is an opinion that moisturising foundation can be used only for dry skin. I disagree. In fact, oily skin needs a lot of hydration itself to become balanced. Most of the foundations nowadays are water-based, because companies are aware of its benefits. When you only have a couple of minutes to create a simple makeup, make sure you choose the right foundation. Powder if needed. But don’t go too heavy with a powder. It will make your skin look dehydrated and dry.

For a natural complexion finish, go for a BB or a CC cream, water-based foundation, skin tints or tinted moisturisers. BB creams offer broad-spectrum SPF and antioxidants – and depending on the formula you choose, includes other skin-improving ingredients. The difference between BB and CC creams is subtle – CC generally stands for “colour correcting” and the products are meant to address issues like redness or sallowness (usually with light-diffusing particles), whereas BB creams are like lighter foundation with a few skin care benefits thrown in. Tinted moisturiser (skin tint) hydrates and evens out the complexion with minimal coverage. Foundation covers the skin with a layer of pigment.

Forget about Contouring – Choose Non-touring

According to the latest beauty and makeup trends, contouring is not anymore a thing. Everyday makeup look in 2016-2017 (and, hopefully, longer) is all about natural beauty and glowing complexion. Therefore, hide your contouring and bronzing makeup and only use a soft satin-looking highlighter. Define your cheekbones and inner corners of the eyes to brighten up the look.

This kind of look is loved by Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Blake Lively. Why not to giving it a try? Not only will your face feel like it can breathe when you try non-touring, you’ll also be delighted by how simple the technique is. It consists of only three steps that even a makeup amateur can grasp – moisturising primer, lightweight foundation and a bit of highlighter on your cheekbones, inner corners of the eyes and maybe a cupid’s bow if you wish.

I currently enjoy using Urban Decay NAKED Illuminating Trio. This limited-edition set contains three new shades of UD’s coveted Shimmering Powder for face and body. Each shade contains light-reflecting particles that give your skin a luminous look. For a natural glowing look, simply dust on this smooth, silky powder wherever you want to create an instant glow. these shimmering powders are very lightweight therefore perfect for a daytime makeup look.

Long Eyelashes for a Simple Makeup Look

A good mascara is an essential weapon in every woman’s beauty kit. With the best mascara, lashes become lengthened, volumised and separated. It’s an essential product if you want to really open your eye up and achieve the perfect flutter. I believe, office makeup look or a natural everyday makeup look should not be heavy. Therefore, after you applied a foundation and added a little bit of glow to your skin, just apply mascara. If you are blonde, choose brown mascara for a softer look.

At the moment I use Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara. This mascara’s glossy, long-wear and water-resistant formula effortlessly coats lashes to separate, extend and intensify their appearance.  The result? All-day lift and curl that won’t flake, smudge or dry out.  This multi-benefit mascara boasts an emollient rich and vitamin fortified formula that conditions, treats and protects lashes.  It’s advanced, peptide-based Lash Building Complex instantly creates high-definition volume and lift for a false lash effect.

Plump Lips Without Botox

Since we are talking about natural everyday makeup, there are no botox injections involved, haha! Maybe it’s just me, but I am totally against making your lips look bigger with botox and surgery. Whilst in 2014 botox lips were gaining a momentum, in 2016-2017 makeup trends become more natural. I totally support this tendency and think it is a right way to go. But don’t you worry, you can still achieve bigger looking pout. There is no need to get lip injections, botox, collagen or lip augmentation as you can get bigger lips without harm.

For a natural makeup look, I recommend using lip plumping gloss or a nourishing lip oil.

Nourish your Lips With Oil Treatment

A supremely luxurious treatment lip oil by Hourglass nurtures, hydrates and regenerates the delicate lip area. The formula blends 14 essential oils, 10 plant oils and 4 vitamins with three powerful active ingredients. Saliporine 8, Volulip and Viamerine elevate moisture levels, improve lip texture and help reduce wrinkle depth. A 24kt gold-plated, anti-bacterial tip has a soothing effect on lips. For the best result, scrub your lips with a bit of sugar and apply an oil afterwards. Your lips will look nourished and plump.

Get Plumper Lips

Get instant sumptuous lips with LipLift Max lip plumper from PixiIts unique formula is infused with peptides which add a burst of volume to make lips look fuller, and jojoba oil to enhance moisture and hydrate lips. Aloe and chamomile work to soothe and soften lips, whilst adding shine to your smile. The precision pen tip glides on for effortless application and the refreshing mint flavour leaves your lips with a cooling sensation.

Directions for use: Wear alone as a plumping treatment, or over any lip colour for a glossy finish.

I absolutely loved this post! This is right on the mark for me and is almost identical to my daily routine! I’m right there with you for blending with a damp beauty blender, always even, smooth, and fairly quick. I can’t get over my Estēe Lauder Double Wear Foundation. I have to use so little for a natural look and it stays on all day.

Fantastic post. I’m on the lookout for a good under eye primer and really enjoyed reading this one. I try not to use powder foundations. I only use them to set my liquid foundation because it’s so dry in LA. I should consider a illuminator(?) Or loose powder at the end to just set though. I definitely would prefer flawless glowing skin as you said. it sure helps the make up routine be light and make up applies so much easier. Thanks for sharing your tips!
