Why am I Such a High Maintenance?

how to be pretty

Hi guys, today I’d like to talk to you about a VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC – How to be pretty and why do I end up being such a high maintenance? To be honest, I’ve never been that ‘prettiest girl in a class’, but I always wanted to be. For a very long time, I couldn’t understand why girls on a magazine cover or in a music video are so pretty! I truly couldn’t figure out why when I wake up I don’t look like them? A girl from the cover seems to be perfect all the time. She has longest and fullest hair (*and it’s glowing), dewy healthy looking skin, long nails, she is always super fit and has flawless makeup. And the main confusion for me was is that I thought it’s all natural!

I’ve never been the skinniest girl too. I would try lots of useless diets, vitamins, supplements etc in order to have a quick result and, finally, become healthy and be pretty! But after many attempts and lots of research, I GOT IT. I did understand what it takes these perfect girls to be pretty. And you know what it is? It’s a high maintenance. Being pretty doesn’t come naturally without any effort! (*If it’s easy for you, God Bless you girl). To BE PRETTY is an every day work and research, good healthy diet, high-quality make-up products, knowledge of applying make-up in a correct way. And please can we not forget about hours spent washing, nourishing and styling our hair? (+some skills of magician when it comes to clipping in hair extensions!).

Sometimes, when I talk to my friends now, they seem to be trapped too. They still want to look like a model, but have to face a reality of early ageing, horrible pollution in London, crazy life when you don’t have time to stop and eat properly, two kids wanting too much of mum’s time etc… With this blogpost I want to inspire my friends and readers to have some time for themselves every day. I don’t tell you to spend 2 hours a day doing make-up and hair, putting together outfits (*this is how much time I need for photoshoots).

Even having a 1 hour in a day for ourselves, we can fit in light make-up for a fresh looking skin, fresh nourished hair, clean ironed dress. You won’t believe it, but there will be some time left to get a green vegetable juice or your favourite smoothie too! Please don’t forget that taking hair, nails and skin vitamins and supplement requires no more then 1 minute a day.

I want to say that women are amazing! We were born to be pretty and happy. Let’s not forget about ourselves in this hectic busy life? Let’s spend some time every day trying to maintain our health, young skin, healthy hair and nails? Who is with me?

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

Let me know if you take care of yourself, do you spend some time in a relaxing bath, styling your hair, do make-up and nails? Do you take being pretty serious or it doesn’t mean anything to you?

I love this post! Like you, it took me ages to figure out that being pretty takes hard work for most people. And I’m totally in agreement about taking time for ourselves no matter how busy we are. It’s not just about being pretty, but about boosting our self esteem. And that’s so important! x

Such a great post! I definitely like to pamper myself, and I enjoy flat ironing my hair and doing my makeup. It doesn’t take me a lot of time to get ready, but it helps me feel put together. Don’t get me wrong — I relish those makeup free days, too.

Such an encouraging post! It’s so important to take care of yourself and treat your body. I love having long baths but sadly I don’t have much time to pamper myself correctly. I am so looking forward to it though once all the exams will be done 🙂

Lovely words! I struggle so much to get sometime for myself! Specially in the mornings, it is so difficult with two small kids to put on makeup in the morning! I usually go out bare faced. I hate that. I like my makeup. But when I can put on a full face of makeup I feel like a different person!!
