My favourite make-up trend for Spring 2016

Hi guys, today I’d like to continue my Spring 2016 trends obsession and introduce you to my favourite makeup trend for Spring 2016. I’ve already done my favourite fashion trends, hair trends, shoe trends, trousers and even bridal trends. But I realised! What about my all-time favourite makeup trend at the moment? I do love make-up, I watch a trillion of beauty YouTubers and follow the beauty trends. Simply because I love them. I have to tell you though that I don’t blindly follow all the trends, jump to the first bus and go to Boots to buy all the possible make-up. But I do love make-up and use a lot. I probably have enough makeup in my collection to use until the end of my life (*haha who am I kidding?). All right, let’s finish the blurb and get into THE TREND!

So (*drum rolls!) my favourite makeup trend for Spring 2016 is highlighting! It’s not new and was not invented only now. It was invented when the make-up was invented basically, but it’s very hyped up now. People call it differently – strobing, dewy skin, glowy skin, healthy looking skin you name it. But it is the same thing! Highlighting is basically a technique to bring forward any features of your face or body. Highlight products or light powders are designed to lighten up your skin and make it look healthy and fresh. Earlier we only knew about highlights with shimmer or sparkles and almost never heard about matte highlighters. They are different, have a different texture, an amount of shimmer/non-shimmer. But they basically do the same thing!

So to sum up, I’d like to explain for you a difference between using shimmer/illuminating powders and matte highlighting products

matte highlighters

So, I would say that matte highlighters would be anything that doesn’t have any glitter, shimmer or sparkles in it. It can be traditional loose or pressed powders, banana powder (*has a yellow undertone and help highlight because of the colour in it), liquid highlighter or concealer. With matte highlightersyou need to go for 1-2 shades lighter than your foundation in order to be able to get this light effect. So, it’s only a matter of finding a correct shade for yourself.

shimmer highlighters

Shimmer highlighters are very understandable and easy to use. Basically, you achieve a highlighted effect when sun or light catches the sparkles or shimmer particles in the product you use. They come in a powder, cream or liquid formula in many many colours. Nowadays you can find a highlighter of any shade (*even green and purple) and for any skin tone. So it’s only a matter of your preference. In general, I would say that you don’t have to buy many highlighters yo achieve a perfect make-up. Depending on your complexion you may go for a pink undertone for fair/light skin and gold undertone highlighter for medium/deeper skin tones. You may apply shimmer highlighters in two ways – dry and wet. Dry for a more natural look. Use Mac Prep and Prime Fix+ to achieve a more dramatic night out effect.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post on a favourite makeup trend for Spring 2016 and have found it useful.
