Fashion Advice for Women

We know that women are more interested in clothes. The fact that we all have a lot of garments that could be worn in different ways doesn’t make our lives easier. Some of us often struggle with finding the best combination of items. Matching jewellery and deciding on which shoes and purse to wear adds to the picture. All of this can be time-consuming and often women make some mistakes that are instantly noticeable in the workplace.

Fashion Mistakes to Avoid at Work

No Workout Clothes

We definitely not recommend to wear clothes that your use in the gym or any sports classes. Spandex yoga pants, leggings, tank tops and t-shirts are a big no-no and are one of the biggest fashion mistakes.

Wearing Tight Clothes

It’s not good to see some women in very tight dresses, trousers or skirts. Those clothes are meant for going out instead of wearing them to the office. It can be very distracting and looks extremely unprofessional to put an accent on your body.

No Flip Flops

Flip flops is another taboo at the office. It doesn’t matter how casual the company is, you need to respect your work’s dress code guide and be properly dressed every time. You can wear flip-flops on weekends.

Too Much Jewellery

Most women want to combine and complement their outfits with some piece of jewellery. But putting too much or some oversized and extreme pieces (like large or long earrings, or some chunky bracelets) can look totally unprofessional. Instead, you can go for soft pieces of jewellery that will put the accent on your style and the outfit.

Dressing Too Casually

The office is not the place where you dress casually. Leave that for walks in the park, shopping or some other less demanding occasions. We recommend wearing formal clothes. However, jeans (if allowed) and a smart blouse can help you as well. You must not wear shorts or short skirts, tops with deep cuts in any case because it doesn’t look well at work. Most women make these mistakes and are not even aware of it.

Wearing something that is trendy, but not appropriate for the office

A common fashion mistake that women make is when they wear something very trendy, but that definitely doesn’t suit the workplace. It doesn’t mean that if the piece of clothes is in vogue this season you have to wear it under any condition. So, think twice and see what would be the best combination that will go with that clothes and is suitable for work. You can always change your outfit at the end of the working day and go out all fashionable and trendy.

When women don’t pay attention to the overall look

Lastly, It is important that the items of your outfit match. But another vital thing is that your overall look is perfect when you check yourself in the mirror. If you feel like something is missing, try adding an accessory or changing the top.  Perhaps, you can change the colour of shoes by only a shade. Tiny details make great looks.

I know, at the moment it’s not in fashion at all. It might come back, though. And I do’t want this to happen, haha

Thanks for the great tips. I must admit here in Asia, many women forget the basic dress codes of certain places like places of workship and workplace. Often you will see them in some kind of athletic garb at work or denim shorts at church simply because it was convenient, weather permitting and more importantly comfortable. Loving your blog .

So with you on all of these points!! Some people end up looking so sloppy at work, it is embarrassing. I worked with a girl years ago in my old job who used to leave her work heels under the communal desk, one day I just threw them out. They were disgusting. She would only wear them when she had to, the rest of the time she wore some other horrible flip flop situation. It was not cool at all!
