5 Ways to Relax After a Stressful Day at Work

Living in a busy and dynamic city makes it essential to relax after a stressful day at work. For example, London is an amazing city with a lot of opportunities. Many of us move to London in order to build our careers and create a better life for ourselves. Some even regret that there are only 24 hours in a day. Many young women in London, including myself, try to make these hours as productive as possible. We want to be active, successful, pretty and also build a personal life, fall in love and settle down. Often we forget about our mental and physical health, getting too tired and almost depressed. We are pushing our body limits. Even though human’s body can cope with a lot of pressure, it can give up sometimes. And when the body decides to give up, it is not fun at all.

Today, I would like to share my top 5 ways to relax after work. Following these steps every now and then and finding time to pamper yourself at home will help to create a balance between your body and mind. This will give you power and energy to achieve more goals, stay healthy and be a much happier person in general.

Reconnect With Nature

Think of nature as a huge source of endless energy. Nature is clever. It knows how to regenerate itself. Also, it is very generous to us. What can be better than going outside for a 30-minute walk at a local park? Luckily, London is a very green city. It is full of small and large parks. Straight after the stressful day at the office, go back home, change into a cosy outfit, take a bottle of water and go outside. Go alone. Take time for yourself. Don’t talk to anyone or distract yourself with anything else. Just go to the park, breathe deeply and appreciate every moment of silence.

It is even better if you have a garden. In this case, make yourself a cup of your favourite tea and go outside. Appreciate the sound of a wind, breathe deeply and count the stars. When was the last time you had 30 minutes of life just for yourself? No phone, no conversations, no checking emails? Exactly! Just looking at all the greenery while sipping on your tea will help you relax. If you are brave enough, take your shoes off and walk bare feet on the grass. You will be surprised how relaxing this activity is.

Take a Warm Bath Before Bedtime

How to distress and sleep well after a full-on day at work? If you have trouble falling asleep, try taking a warm bath 2 hours before you go to the bed. A warm bath will help you to unwind and rebalance the energy. I always include my skin care routine in the pampering sessions.

The next way to relax after work is brought to you by OROGOLD Cosmetics.

Double Cleanse Your Skin

Double cleanse is very important in order to keep your skin clean and firm. Firstly, remove your makeup with an oil-based makeup remover. This will help to break down any waterproof or heavy makeup and SPF. After you finished removing the makeup, proceed to purify your skin with your favourite cleanser. I use Orogold Cosmetics 24K Mousse Cleanser. This gentle cleanser transforms into a creamy lather to effectively dimish the look of impurities such as dirt and any makeup leftovers. I apply a small amount onto hands and massage into the face. I take time massaging the cleanser into the skin. This helps me to relax. also, I believe, a little massage helps to keep the skin firm and youthful. Once finished, I rinse a cleanser with warm and cool water to energise the skin.

Purify Skin

I believe in a power of toners and never skip them in my skin care routine. Toners are great to balance your skin and prepare it for the moisturiser. 24K Purifying Toner helps to remove any remaining traces of excess oils and impurities to leave your skin with a healthier looking complexion. I apply a toner to my face and neck using a cotton pad. I believe that because I am 28 I need to take extra care of my skin. Therefore, I never skip essential steps in a skin care routine and invest more into skin care products with great ingredients.

Moisturise The Skin

An integral part of my skin care routine is a face moisturiser. I noticed when I feel stressed my skin gets a bit drier and dehydrated. To bring life and hydration to my skin, I use a rich moisturiser. 24K Deep Moisturiser by Orogold Cosmetics has a very light, non-greasy texture. It offers hydrating ingredients for a healthier looking skin. I massage a small amount of the moisturiser into face and neck following by a Purifying Toner. I feel like applying an extra few spritzes to my skin really helps me to feel like a goddess and relax fully! Why not to helping replenish your appearance with this moisturiser?

Digital Detox – Disconnect to Reconnect

I know it might be extremely tempting to take your laptop to the bathroom to catch up on favourite TV series. It is even more common to take a phone with you. But if you really want to find the best way to relax after work, forget about any technology this evening. Digital detox is huge nowadays. Instead of watching a movie or checking an Instagram while taking the bath, I recommend to switching off the light and setting up a few candles. For the best results, add your favourite essential oil to the bath. The ones I use are lavender (when I need to reconnect with myself) and eucalyptus (when I need to clarify my mind and soul). I have heard an opinion that your warm/hot bath should not be longer than 20 minutes. But, is it really enough? When I have an opportunity, I don’t miss out on an hour bath session. I know that it is a luxury. Frankly, after working hard and long hours, this is the optimum amount of time for me. Less is not enough!

Pamper Yourself – Take Care of Your Body

Now when you are relaxed, it is time to finish up the pampering session. When I am stressed I know that there is no better way to distress than to take care of my body and soul.

Treat Yourself to a Full Body Scrub and Massage

A body scrub is the best way to renew your skin. you might be surprised, but the skin gets tired too as well as we all do. That is why it is essential to take care of your skin, exfoliate it once a week. For my pampering sessions, I use 24K Classic Body Scrub. This luxurious scrub helps to gently polish the skin. Formulated with rich ingredients, the 24K Exfoliating Body Scrub will leave your body with an extraordinarily soft feel. This scrub contains pure gold from Italy. How amazing is that? The scrub’s particles are very fine. They won’t hurt or damage your skin as some rough scrubs. I massage the scrub onto wet skin using circular motions and rinse off with a warm water.

Ideally, you’ll want to massage your skin for a little while. This will improve a blood circulation and keep your skin plump. For the best results, I use 24K Aromatherapy Body Oil. This oil is made with a blend of precious, nourishing oils and natural botanical extracts. With no synthetic fragrance, this luxurious oil is specially formulated to leave skin feeling moisturised, healthy and radiant. Because of the high-quality of this oil, I only use a little bit on my body. Apply an oil to your warm body and massage into skin evenly. I really appreciate the fact that this body oil by Orogold Cosmetics absorbs into my skin quickly. this allows me to wear my favourite pyjamas without been scared to ruin it.

Choose a Healthy Meal for Dinner

I believe that food has the power to energise ourselves. Not only from a nutrition point of view (giving us the energy to move and be active). It is able to recover our bodies from stress and pollution. High-quality food helps us to feel better and be healthier. When stressed and tired, I jump onto whole foods diet. Of course, I need to always follow it in order to be healthier. But let’s be real, I don’t always have the willpower to do it. I believe that bright, fresh and crispy food can re-energise us from inside. It helps our body to recover from stress. Make yourself a tasty green or berry smoothie or eat some fish with green salad leaves. You will be surprised how good and light you will feel after.

You will benefit from it and see how the quality of your life improves. When you are healthy and in balance with yourself, you become a much happier person!

Great article ! I’m always on the run, working in the city and using public transport – so I tend to find I dry out my skin with antibacterial products. ( hand sanitisers etc) so putting moisture back into our skin is so important. I love the aromatherapy oils , the 24k one looks divine xoxo

    • 20 October 2016 / 10:32 AM

I think antibacterial products with alcohol are not the best option. but I do understand why you want to use them in the transport.
It is essential to clean and moisturise your skin after a long day. Clarified and protected skin will look younger and plumper 🙂

London is an amazing city, however, I don’t think I would want to live there. It is so hectic during the peak time and it would make you stressed! Whenever I am feeling stressed and need to switch off then I like to go to country side and take long walks and just enjoy the quietness of the nature, also taking a nice relaxing bath after a long day definitely helps me relax 🙂 Great post!

My favorite is to take a hot bath with peppermint oil… the oil keeps me cool so I can handle the water really hot, which pulls the muscle cramps and knots right out!
